spinal manipulation

Gentle spinal Manipulation and/or Mobilization

Manipulation and mobilization involve a specific force applied to a joint that has an analgesic effect. Literature demonstrates that it is dose dependent and has been shown to be cumulative over time. Therefore, in many cases it is necessary for a course of treatment. This course should be specific to the diagnosis and when combined with tailored exercises it is possible to achieve a strong and stable body that can easily deal with the challenges that we confront from day to day. To achieve spinal control, stability, and effectively improve balance and coordination of the spinal muscles – takes time. Here we are experienced in putting together a rehabilitation program that suits your needs.

Graston Technique Graston Technique® is an innovative form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and muscle restrictions. The Technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. See the Graston Technique website for more information.

Dry needling – Acupuncture needles Dr Kapoor is currently undergoing training in this technique to assist with muscle, ligament and tendon injuries.

Bowen Therapy

Bowen therapy

Bowen Therapy is a unique healing modality that works on different levels. The principal benefit of Bowen Therapy is the often rapid and long term or permanent remission from pain, reduced stress, greater mobility and improved physical and emotional quality and enjoyment of life. Additional benefits can include increased energy, improvement in the immune system, rebalancing of the body, improved circulation, lymphatic drainage and detoxification. It is very gentle, relaxing and non-invasive, involving no manipulation and is therefore ideal for everyone including babies, children and the aged. Bowen Therapy, through specific soft tissue or facial release and integration techniques, stimulate specific receptors that enable the body itself to correct dysfunctions and restore homeostasis (balance) on a holistic level. Through treating the cause rather than the symptoms Bowen Therapy has consistently shown it can have profound and permanent healing and pain relief outcomes. On the initial visit you will receive an appraisal of your muscle-skeletal condition and an informal discussion about your health and lifestyle to highlight any areas that may conflict with your healing requirements. Treatments are a relaxing experience, performed through clothing. Clients often wonder if there is anything “really happening” due to the gentle nature of the therapy. Make no mistake, deep and profound changes are underway!

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage

Typically this focuses on stress relief. The techniques are soothing, assisting in eliminating the production of stress chemicals in the body, but also honing in on any muscle tightness present.

Remedial Massage

A remedial massage works at a deeper level, assessing and manipulating the soft tissues to address injuries and dysfunction. Techniques involve stroking, kneading, friction, compression, myofascial tension techniques and muscle stretching. It assists with inhibiting muscle spasms, increasing flexibility and breaking down scar tissue. Manual lymphatic drainage is a very gentle and subtle technique which is particularly useful for reducing swelling, boosting the immune system and clearing toxins from the body. Depending on your needs Andrew may combine a number of modalities into your treatment.
